A Healthy Climate
Climate change threatens the natural world as we know it. At Hass, we know we have to do our part. We consider the environmental impact of every decision we make and reduce our footprint wherever possible. As a Climate Neutral Certified company, we work with the non-profit to create an annual emissions Reduction Action Plan. We also measure all our scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and offset more than the net total by supporting projects that prevent or remove carbon from the atmosphere. That effectively makes Hass a net-zero company. The new standard for responsible fashion brands.
We believe in a circular economy that accounts for the lifecycle of our products. That’s one reason we choose natural, innovative and organic materials. Synthetic fabrics may never decompose, but natural and organic fabrics are biodegradable. Because the last thing we need on this planet is more waste.
Safe, Abundant Water
The fashion industry requires massive quantities of water. Producing one non-organic cotton t-shirt can require 700 gallons of the good stuff. Meanwhile, we’re facing critical drinking water shortages across the country. At Hass, we’re committed to natural and organic fibers, which can use up to 70 percent less water than synthetic and non-organic fabrics.
Non-organic cotton depends on harmful chemicals. These pesticides end up in our ecosystems, where they can damage wildlife — and us. By using GOTS certified organic cotton (CU863637), we’re committed to a higher standard, with no harmful chemicals. This is better for the land and water where our materials are grown, our team in Los Angeles, and you.
Feeding Those In Need
Nearly one in four people in the U.S. experience food insecurity. Hunger has devastating consequences for individual and community health. At Hass, we want to support our neighbors. With our partners, City Harvest in New York, and Food Forward in Los Angeles, we’ll donate a meal to someone in need with every purchase. Together, we can be part of the solution to this crisis.
Supporting Our Local Economy
We’re proud to be one of the few fashion companies that manufactures its apparel in the U.S. With the exception of our alpaca collection, which is made in Peru, our entire line is made in Los Angeles with the most responsible fibers from around the world. The Global Organic Textile Standard has certified our manufacturing facilities to meet the highest bar for social and environmental responsibility. That means we support safe working conditions and provide fair living wages and comprehensive benefits to everyone who plays a part in making Hass apparel.
10 Years From Now
At Hass, we’re just getting started. We’re proud of our commitments to 1% for the Planet and Climate Neutral. We also recognize that as our company grows, so too can our positive impact. Our goal in 10 years is to decarbonize our production, while innovating new ways to promote sustainable fashion and healthier communities.
