Luxurious and Durable Modal

Made from beech tree pulp, modal is a soft material originally developed in Japan. The cellulose-based textile is more durable than rayon and has a silkier quality than cotton. It’s also a more environmentally friendly alternative — beech trees require little water to thrive and the production process consumes 10 to 20 percent less water than cotton.

Proudly Sewn In LA

More than 95 percent of clothing is imported from overseas. Often, the clothes are made in factories with devastating environmental impacts and terrible human rights violations, including forced child labor. Intensive carbon emissions from transporting garments overseas increase the greenhouse gasses that lead to the climate crisis. That’s why we cut, dye, and sew this leisurewear collection in Los Angeles with Lenzing certified modal from Austria. The Global Organic Textile Standard has thoroughly vetted our factory partners to ensure we’re meeting the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility.

Ultimate Sleep Staple

Slow Fashion

Hass is not fast fashion. We want you to buy less and wear it more. We build our clothing with its lifecycle at the forefront. That’s why we design our clothing with timeless elegance and stitch our apparel with careful attention to detail as well as with durable natural materials. Doing it this way costs a little more upfront, but given the number of times you’ll wear one of our pieces, Hass clothes make more practical sense than something discarded after a season.

Radical Transparency

From our materials and our factories to our environmental footprint, we have nothing to hide. We use natural, organic, and innovative fabrics, we stitch everything in our GOTS certified facilities in Los Angeles, and we’re a Certified B Corporation and 1% For the Planet members. Those groups verify our positive environmental and social impact from our supply chain all the way to the finished product that ends up on your doorstep.

1% For The Planet

Created by Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard, 1% for the Planet is a global organization that connects sustainably-minded businesses like Hass to environmental nonprofits. As members, we donate 1 percent of our annual revenues to verified organizations that address the interrelated issues of climate change, healthy food systems, land management, water resources, pollution, and wildlife diversity.

Certified B Corporation

Certified B Corporations are a new kind of business that balance purpose and profit — they legally commit to consider the impacts of their decisions on their workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment. It’s a community of leaders, driving a global movement of people using business as a force for good. Reed + Gwen, as a subsidiary of Avocado Green Brands, has a B Score of 126.2 points — well beyond the 80-point minimum threshold.

Climate Neutral Certified

The emissions from burning fossil fuels are the leading cause of our unprecedented climate crisis. Hass is proud to be Climate Neutral Certified for net zero emissions. We work with the nonprofit to voluntarily measure, reduce, and offset more than 100% of our scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by supporting carbon offset initiatives through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation.
