Incredibly Plush and Sustainable
Our Fleece Luxe Loungewear combines wonderfully soft micro modal fleece with Supima cotton, an extra-long staple cotton grown in the American Southwest that’s especially durable, plush, and resilient. Supima cotton farmers are committed to growing high-quality cotton that has as little impact on the environment as possible.
Proudly Sewn In LA
More than 95 percent of clothing is imported from overseas. Often, the clothes are made in factories with devastating environmental impacts and terrible human rights violations, including forced child labor. Intensive carbon emissions from transporting garments overseas increase the greenhouse gasses that lead to the climate crisis. That’s why we cut, dye, and sew our fleece collection in Los Angeles with American-grown Supima cotton and Lenzing certified modal from Austria. The Global Organic Textile Standard has thoroughly vetted our factory partners to ensure we’re meeting the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility.
Everyday Sweats, Refined
Sustainable Fashion Is Better For the Planet
Fast fashion accounts for 10 percent of all carbon emissions. The industry is the second-largest consumer of water — it takes 700 gallons to produce one non-organic cotton shirt. Toxic textile dyes are the second-largest polluter of water. Meanwhile, 85 percent of all textiles end up in the landfill each year, and synthetic clothing made from petroleum byproducts, like polyester and nylon, will never decompose.
Our materials — like 100% certified organic cotton — are entirely sustainable. Natural and organic materials use less water and are not petroleum byproducts. They biodegrade and can be processed in a way that is safe for people and the planet.
From our materials and our factories to our environmental footprint, we have nothing to hide. We use natural and organic fabrics, we stitch everything in our GOTS certified facilities in Los Angeles, and we’re a Certified B Corporation and 1% For the Planet members. Those groups verify our positive environmental and social impact from our supply chain all the way to the finished product that ends up on your doorstep.
Created by Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard, 1% for the Planet is a global organization that connects sustainably-minded businesses like Hass to environmental nonprofits. As members, we donate 1 percent of our annual revenues to verified organizations that address the interrelated issues of climate change, healthy food systems, land management, water resources, pollution, and wildlife diversity.
Certified B Corporations are a new kind of business that balance purpose and profit — they legally commit to consider the impacts of their decisions on their workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment. It’s a community of leaders, driving a global movement of people using business as a force for good. Reed + Gwen, as a subsidiary of Avocado Green Brands, has a B Score of 126.2 points — well beyond the 80-point minimum threshold.
The emissions from burning fossil fuels are the leading cause of our unprecedented climate crisis. Hass is proud to be Climate Neutral Certified for net zero emissions. We work with the nonprofit to voluntarily measure, reduce, and offset more than 100% of our scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by supporting carbon offset initiatives through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation.
